SCHOOL COUNCIL

To Whom It May Concern,

I am very pleased to endorse David O’Brien as School Board Trustee for Wards 1-3.  I have seen David around the school for the 7 years that my kids have attended Steele Street P.S. and he has had an active roll in all functions that are a success at our school. I joined the School Council last year where I have worked closely with David on these events, fundraisers and meetings. His calm demeaner, exceptional organizational skills, and strong knowledge of school board protocols has lead us in many successful school functions.

David is extremely dependable, efficient, thorough and constantly encourages the other parents with his upbeat nature. David possesses strong leadership skills that we will be sure to miss if he is elected for School Board Trustee. David has been a tremendous asset to our school and community, working hard to provide the best possible environment for the children.

I wholeheartedly recommend David for this position and know he would go above and beyond the expected duties of this roll.

Sincerely,

Courtney Warren

Steele Street Parent Council Member 2017-2018

Co-Chair Steele Street Parent Council 2018-2019

To whom it may concern,

It is with great privilege that I write to you in recommendation of David O’Brien.  David has been Chairperson of our School Parents’ Council for a number of years now, and has done an outstanding job.  I have always found him to be very knowledgeable about any potential grants or opportunities that our council should apply for/take advantage of, and he arrives to every meeting well organized and ready to go.

At times our council has been less supported when it comes to parental involvement, but David has been a constant presence for our school, and persevered despite his lack of support.  David has been the backbone of all our council-run functions, and has allowed our events to run smoothly, ensuring all details are accounted for.

Steele Street P.S. has been so fortunate to have David for as long as we have.  Although we will be deeply disappointed to lose David if he is elected as a board Trustee, I would highly recommend him for the position.

Warm regards,

For many years, I have had the privilege of working alongside David O’Brien on Steel Street School Council.  David was a leader in ensuring the school was a hub for parents to be engaged in the learning process of their children.

Now as chair of Eastview Secondary School Council, I often have connections with our family of schools.  David is willing to be part of our broader community to ensure that these connections are beneficial to our students.

PARENT INVOLVEMENT COMMITTEE (PIC)

I met David in 2014 after joining the Parent Involvement Committee for the SCDSB.  After serving only one year with PIC, he went on to Chair this committee for the following three.  For 2 of those years, I had the pleasure of serving as the Vice-Chair.

My first impressions of David were refreshing.  It was immediately apparent to me that he was honest, direct and completely dedicated to our education systems and our Board. I considered myself lucky to Chair this Committee with David.  He led by example.

His passion for parent/community involvement inspired PIC and was the driving force behind the growth of our committee during those years.  To be completely honest, I can't imagine a better candidate for an SCDSB Trustee.  Ward 1-3 would be lucky to have him.

I am very pleased to endorse David O’Brien as School Board Trustee for Wards 1-3.  I have been with the with the Canadian Adaptive Snowsports (CADS) at Horseshoe Resort organized by David over the past 15 years, and have worked with him closely with the program over the last season.

David’s calming demeanour and encouragement of the students, and sometimes even the parents, to step out of their comfort zones on the slopes has led to many success of the students within the CADS program.
